Salary: £39,014.10 - £41750.80 (3.5% uplift takes us to £43,211)

Role Purpose

The Learning and Development Lead role sits at the heart of the Stepdown culture, service development and assurance of compassionate, informed and authentic care.

The Learning and Development Lead holds a key role in maintaining the culture and values at Stepdown: Supporting service and workforce development through understanding, shaping and dynamic delivery of effective learning and service wide coaching.

The postholder will support the design, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of high-quality training and coaching that enhance skills, performance, and organisational effectiveness. Equipping the workforce to understand and realise positive outcomes for our children. Working collaboratively with management and stakeholders, the Learning and Development Lead will ensure learning solutions are aligned to strategic priorities and quality standards.

The role will embrace the breadth of Stepdown service delivery including supporting funding applications and corresponding service developments, continuous professional development, regulatory compliance and quality assurance of practice and outcomes.

Role Accountabilities & Key Activities

  • Utilise a project-management approach to own the end-to-end organisation, coordination, and execution of learning initiatives and events.
  • Conduct training needs analysis and assessment to identify learning and development requirements and desired performance outcomes at all levels of the organisation.
  • Coordinate and maintain the service wide calendar for staff development activity.
  • Provide focused support to deliver engaging, inclusive, and effective training programmes.
  • Evaluate learning activity using appropriate methods and provide clear recommendations for continuous improvement, aligned to outcomes for our children.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of training activity, attendance, and evaluation outcomes.
  • Act as a first point of contact and conduit for the Learning and Development function, supporting effective communication and coordination.
  • Lead on the development and implementation of Learning and Development Strategy.
  • Work alongside the SLT to support and strengthen quality assurance processes including and beyond learning and development.
  • Manage relationships with external providers and partners where required.
  • Maintain personal continuous professional development (CPD) and stay informed of current learning and development trends, best practice, regulatory compliance and innovation.
  • Lead and support Grant Funding strategies, service growth, compliance and review.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • CIPD qualification in Learning and Development or equivalent.
  • A training or teaching qualification or equivalent experience. (Group Training Certificate)
  • Experience using digital content creation tools for learning.
  • EFQM qualification or experience of quality improvement frameworks.
  • Assessor Qualification
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Promote high standards of learning quality and learner experience.
  • Actively contribute to a positive learning culture across the services.
  • A coaching approach to learning, that is value led.
