At Step Down, we support young people as they transition from residential care to independent living.
Stepdown services offer a range of interdependent and independent support for young people aged 16 and over who require a tailored package of support. Our main aims are:
Young people living in Stepdown services are encouraged to develop a range of essential life skills to support their transition into adulthood. This service complements our portfolio of accommodation which includes singleton flats, one, two, 3 and 4 bedded residential houses. available to young people.
Our semi-independent flats within our residential homes provide young people with the opportunity to experience reduced support while preparing for the next step – whether that’s returning to family or living independently in the community. Our goal is to guide them on their journey to independence, ensuring they have the skills and confidence to thrive on their own while knowing they are still part of a supportive network.
In partnership with local authorities, Stepdown services supports their commitment to meet their continuing care planning outcomes for care experienced young people and their families. Our interdependent living model provides a nurturing, empowering environment for young people who are beginning or continuing their journey towards independence.
Stepdown staff know that young people will try new things, take on more responsibility, make decisions by themselves and work out who they are and what that means for them as they move towards living their adult independent care experience.
